Fujian Unite Materials Technology Expands into the Food Sector

Wins the 2022 China New Tea Beverage [Solution] Award

On September 29, 2022, the “China New Tea Beverage Conference” was held in Guangzhou. The summit attracted more than 200 industry leaders and top experts from well-known tea beverage brands. As the most high-level summit in China to date focused on the “new tea beverage” sector, the event invited over 20 highly influential heavyweights from the coffee and tea beverage industry, both domestic and international. Fujian Unite Materials Technology Co., Ltd. was invited to attend, and its representatives delivered a keynote speech titled “Reducing Costs and Improving Efficiency” to support the development of domestic tea beverage brands.

Fujian Unite Materials Technology has long specialized in the field of specialty electronic gases. The company has been a long-term supplier of various high-purity specialty electronic gases to numerous internationally renowned electronics manufacturers [including chip and semiconductor manufacturers and LED display producers]. Among these, its annual production of nitrous oxide (N₂O)—produced via the thermal decomposition of ammonium nitrate—reaches 20,000 metric tons, ranking among the world’s highest.

Nitrous oxide (N₂O) has a wide range of applications across the electronics, industrial, food, and medical sectors. With the rapid rise of China’s coffee, new-style tea beverage, and baking industries, it has become an indispensable additive in the food sector and is widely used in the production of milk-capped and snow-topped products. Because China’s gas manufacturing industry started relatively late, industry standards remain incomplete, and there is a lack of domestic food-grade nitrous oxide (N₂O) producers, the domestic coffee, tea beverage, and baking industries have long been forced to rely on imported nitrous oxide (N₂O). Imported nitrous oxide presents industry pain points such as high costs, unstable supply, counterfeit or adulterated products, policy control risks, and a lack of supporting services, which have constrained the development of these related industries. On March 7, 2022, the National Health Commission and the State Administration for Market Regulation jointly issued and implemented GB 1886.350-2021, “Food Additive: Nitrous Oxide,” which established the national standard for nitrous oxide produced by the thermal decomposition of ammonium nitrate as a food additive. As a pioneer in China’s specialty gas sector, Fujian Unite recognized the urgent demand for food-grade specialty gases in the country’s coffee, tea, and baking industries, as well as the vast market potential. The company was the first to obtain a series of production, filling, and sales qualifications, including the food production license for nitrous oxide (N₂O). The company launched its first batch of products compliant with China’s food-grade nitrous oxide standards. Upon their release, these products garnered unanimous praise from professionals in the domestic coffee and tea beverage industries thanks to the company’s robust production capacity—with an annual output of 200 million gas cartridges—a rigorous testing system, guaranteed standardization, stability, and safety, highly competitive pricing, and an efficient, responsive service system.

During the conference, Zhang Wei, Marketing Director of Fujian Unite, provided attendees with a detailed explanation of the characteristics of food-grade specialty gases, as well as relevant industry standards and laws and regulations. Unite’s food-grade nitrous oxide (N₂O) gas cartridges have obtained multiple authoritative certifications, including NSF, ISO 9001, TÜV, GS, LFGB, and FDA, and the company has established a comprehensive monitoring and traceability system in strict accordance with the regulations of relevant regulatory authorities. From raw material registration to factory intake, production, and filling and shipment, the entire process is filed with relevant authorities and subject to traceability oversight [all products can be traced via external barcodes], ensuring the legal and compliant use of the products. The products are exported to more than 20 countries worldwide.

Fujian Unite won the [Solution] Award at the 2022 China New Tea Beverage Conference. Marketing Director Zhang Wei stated that the company is committed to the research, development, production, and supply of specialty gases in China. While maintaining a strong presence in the international market, the company will accelerate its strategic expansion in the domestic food sector to fully support the development of China’s new tea beverage industry.
